METRC calls for project proposals in the "science of everyday things"

23 September 2009

METRC the N8 Molecular Engineering Translational Research Centre based at Sheffield University, has launched its Autumn 2009 Proof of Concept Funding Call. The call will close on October 16 2009.

Funds of up to £50,000 will be available to support individual Proof of Concept projects between METRC’s academic members and industry partners.

In particular, the Centre is seeking to pump-prime projects offering the most exciting technological and commercial advances for UK plc and the quality of life of its citizens. This funding is designed to support early-stage applied research and allow teams of academic and industrial partners to advance projects to the point at which they can attract more substantial financial support for the development of innovative new products and processes.

We Centre aims to fund 10 Proof of Concept projects in this call and all proposals will be assessed for eligibility by our Industrial Advisory Board. The two main criteria that the Board will use to assess the eligibility of proposals are: commercial potential of the project and commitment from the industrial partner(s)
