Ottobock launches expert orthotics service in the UK

13 January 2012

Ottobock Healthcare has launched a new Private Orthotics Service that will deliver advice, support and affordable solutions for people suffering from musculoskeletal disorders.

Individuals looking to correct a broad range of orthotic conditions, such as ligament damage, sports injuries or chronic conditions such as osteoarthritis and cerebral palsy can now be treated by professional orthotists in the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Surrey.

Orthoses are externally applied devices that can be used to correct characteristics of the neuro-muscular and skeletal systems through the application or redirection of force. These devices range from insoles for correcting posture through to braces to help ease drop foot, a condition sometimes found in stroke patients. Ottobock provides a full range of support and soft orthoses products for joints, ligaments, fractures as well as paralysis.

Staffed with highly professional, dedicated orthotists who can prescribe a wide range of devices to meet the specific needs of the individual, the new Private Orthotics Service is available at three Ottobock clinics based in Birmingham in the West Midlands, Rugeley in Staffordshire and Egham in Surrey.

“At Ottobock we’re dedicated to creating and providing solutions for people with restricted mobility and helping them gain, or regain their freedom to move,” commented Brian Hopkins, Head of Orthotics at Ottobock UK. “We’re delighted to be able to offer access to highly trained orthotists at these new Private Orthotics Services throughout the UK and we hope our innovative product range will provide stabilisation, relief and correction to patients of all ages.”
