ICW Master Patient Index passes IHE conformance tests
12 May 2007 Walldorf, Germany. InterComponentWare AG (ICW) participated
in the 2007 Connectathon hosted by the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise
(IHE) initiative to test the compatibility of its ICW Master Patient Index
(MPI) with international standards. The results show that the ICW MPI is now
IHE-compliant.
IHE (www.ihe.net) has been annually
publishing extended frameworks since 1998, which describe how to implement
international standards (HL7, DICOM, etc.) using real-case scenarios. Once a
year, interested manufacturers can demonstrate the compatibility of their
products with the IHE framework at the IHE Connectathon.
This year's European IHE Connectathon took place at the eHealth week
conference in Berlin, Germany. Approximately 70 manufacturers with over 120
systems tested various IHE procedures. "We have already subjected our
Master Patient Index from the ICW Professional Suite to extensive internal
and external tests. Using the results of our participation in the IHE
Connectathon, our customers can be sure that our solutions interact
perfectly with other manufacturers’ products", says Alexander Ihls, head of
the ICW ProfessionalGate product line. "This is an outstanding venue to test
the marketability of our products and to demonstrate the networking
capabilities of various ICW systems." Several weeks prior to the IHE
Connectathon, ICW tested its MPI at the HP European Performance and
Benchmark Center, confirming the MPI’s capability of locating data sets
stored within an extremely large database of 100 million patient data with
1,000 simultaneous users in less than one second. To top
