DOBI Medical International to exhibit ComfortScan system at the 2005
European Congress of Radiology
28 February 2005
MAHWAH, N.J., USA. DOBI Medical International, Inc. (DBMI.OB) announced
today that the Company will exhibit their Dynamic Optical Breast Imaging
(DOBI(R)) technology, known as the ComfortScan(TM) system, at the 2005
European Congress of Radiology (ECR), March 4-7, at the Austria Center
Vienna (Booth 11, Extension Expo A).
More than 14,000 radiologists, non-radiologist physicians, radiographers,
physicists, members of other scientific disciplines and individual members
of commercial companies with a special radiology interest are expected to
attend this seventeenth annual conference, one of the most prestigious
radiology events in Europe.
According to the European Network of Cancer Registries, breast cancer is
the most common cancer in females in Europe and it is estimated that breast
cancer is responsible for 27% of all new cancer cases in European women.
The ComfortScan system is a non-invasive, non-ionizing device that uses
light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and gentle external pressure to identify
angiogenesis, the growth of new blood vessels, in the breast. Angiogenesis
has often been associated with aggressive or malignant tumors. Since
standard technologies, such as mammography and ultrasound, do not show blood
vessel growth, the ComfortScan system can potentially improve the
physician's ability to diagnose breast cancer.
DOBI Medical currently has nine international distributors representing
13 countries or approximately one-fifth of the world's population. The
European distribution network includes Russia, the Czech Republic,
Switzerland, Italy, Greece and the Netherlands.
